Letter from the Board

Dear Friends,

It has been almost 25 years since the little basement library on Switzer Avenue first opened its doors. From a humble collection of Judaica books, the informal lending library has grown into the Jewish Youth Library of Ottawa with its own building. The Chaya Mushka Building is located at 192 Switzer Ave. Central to both the east and west ends of the city, it has been offering a diverse selection of programming to every member of the Ottawa Jewish community, no matter the age group or affiliation.

The Jewish Youth Library is not just a library. It is a hub of activity with schools, camps, educational institutes and seminars, and many special programs and events. It has kept ahead of the times with innovative programming, some of which have become prototypes for similar programs elsewhere in this city.

We are very proud to introduce a new program, the Friendship Circle, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Friendship Circle is a much-needed service program for challenged children and their families.

We owe our growth to you. We could not have diversified without your encouragement and loyalty. With your continued support, we can look forward to a future full of more exciting initiatives to bring you--the affiliated and non-affiliated members of this thriving Ottawa Jewish community--programs that will enrich our lives as Jews and give us a deeper appreciation and understanding of our heritage. Please patronize our events and help us sustain the programs.

Most sincerely,

Board of Directors 2011
