There are two types of volunteer jobs for Sibshops of Ottawa, Volunteer Facilitators and Volunteer Special Guests.
Volunteer Facilitators
Volunteer Facilitators help run Sibshops and create a fun environment for Sibshop participants. Facilitators are people who truly enjoy the company of kids (and have had experience working with kids), are good listeners and have the ability to convey a sense of joy, wonder and fun.
Volunteer Facilitator Logistics
Sibshops take place at the Jewish Youth Library, 192 Switzer Ave. from 10:00am -12:30pm. Facilitators are asked to come 15 minutes before children arrive at 9:15 am to help set up.
Volunteer Facilitators are expected to attend all 9 Sibshops in 2015 if possible. However, if you are unable to attend all Sibshops, please let the Program Coordinator know in advance.
This first Sibshop on Sunday, April 19 is mandatory for all Volunteer Facilitator as it is part of training.

Sibshops Training
All volunteer facilitators must attend the two day training given by the Director of the Sibling Support Project and Sibshop Creator, Don Meyer. Sibshops of Ottawa Volunteer Facilitators will receive the training for free.
Training Dates:
Friday, April 17, 2015 9:00am - 3:30pm
and
Sunday, April 19, 2015 9:00am - 3:00pm
Police Record Check
In order be a volunteer facilitator with Sibshops of Ottawa, you are required to provide a recent "Police Record Check for Vulnerable Individuals". Please provide the Police Record Check as soon as possible. You are able to get one from the Ottawa Police Department. Please go to http://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/contact-us/request-a-background-check-or-police-report.asp, for more information on applying for a Record Check.
Sibshops of Ottawa can provide a letter stating that you are a volunteer if requested.

Volunteer Special Guest
Sibshops of Ottawa is always looking for fun and new ideas for Sibshops activities. Special Guest Volunteers can get involved in Sibshops by contributing their talents for a few hours and creating a fun activity for our participants.
