YOU ARE INVITED TO A WALK THROUGH
The Jewish Youth Library of Ottawa purchased 166 Huron Ave. N. in August of 2021. They have just received the building permit from the city of Ottawa to make the necessary city mandated renovations, along with their designer mandated renovations.
Please come anytime between 10 am and 6 pm to participate in an exciting WALK THROUGH of this historic Heritage building that was built in 1915 by Francis Sullivan, an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright. Mr Wright was a famous architect during that time who is known for his "Prairie Style" homes.
As one of Ottawa's most stunning residences, this heritage property remains a breathtaking example of Prairie Style architecture, updated to blend original details with modern features. This property offers 3 stories of stately space, highlighted by the original trim work, staircase, mantles and stained-glass.
Over the years, the Sullivan masterpiece has been the subject of numerous articles, a university thesis and a documentary television production in 1989. Passersby often stop to admire the house. Many times, people are found on the front porch taking photos of the heritage plaque.
This property is a real treasure for the City of Ottawa and holds significant historical importance.
It will be the new home of Chabad of Wellington West and the JYL's extensive Judaica library, offering classes, programs and instructional events for the Jewish community and General community at large.
Hope you can join us for this exciting and historic WALK THROUGH and tour this building before extensive renovations commence.
