The Jewish Youth Library of Ottawa was created in 1983 in order to bring about a community-wide change and promote education and literacy in the Capital region. We provide services for the general population of the Ottawa as well as the Jewish community of Ottawa and surrounding areas.
The many programs of the Jewish Youth Library, in a nutshell, are:
- A lending library for over 10,000 Jewish books (ranging from Great Rabbis to Holocaust books)
- Jarvis Freedman Torah tape library, with over 5,000 Jewish tapes (ranging from music to lectures)
- Sunday Jewish Mysticism classes, Tuesday night Talmud classes
- Monday morning women's book club
- Jewish Women’s Learning Institute, held throughout the summer weeks
- An Israel summer camp, Camp Gan Israel
- Westboro Jewish Montessori Preschool
- Friendship Circle, a non-sectarian program for children with special needs
- Yearly Family Shabbatons
- Children’s programs featured around special Jewish holidays and more!
