Norene Gilletz is the leading author of kosher cookbooks in Canada and the owner of Gourmania Inc.

Her world revolves around recipes and she is crazy about food! A freelance food writer, editor, food consultant, cooking teacher, food manufacturer, and culinary spokesperson, Norene is a Certified Culinary Professional with the International Association of Culinary Professionals. She is the author of 10 cookbooks, including: The Silver Platter: Simple to Spectacular; The NEW Food Processor Bible; Norene’s Healthy Kitchen; Healthy Helpings; Second Helpings Please; The Low Iodine Diet Cookbook; The Frequent Fiber Diet Cookbook.

Norene Gilletz has done hundreds of cooking demonstrations and lectures throughout Canada and the USA. She has expertise in a wide variety of health concerns and special diets. Her motto is “Food that’s good for you should taste good.”

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Norene raised her family in Montreal and now lives in Toronto, Canada. She has three children and five grandchildren. Norene received her initial culinary training in her late mother’s kitchen, where she was taught the creative art of recycling leftovers!

This presentation by Dr. Stacy Goldstein, D.C., will focus on empowering seniors to take an active role in their health and to challenge the conventional norms of aging. She will discuss how to stay pain free while being active and vibrant in your later years. Dr, Goldstein will cover easy home based stretching and strengthening activities, social exercise and fall prevention. She will also discuss the common causes of back, neck and joint pain, and how to avoid letting pain sneak up on you or a loved one. This talk promises to be fun, informative and engaging so all are welcome to attend.

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Stacy Goldstein helps her patients live healthy, active, independent and inspiring lives. As a chiropractor practicing in Westboro, she sees patients of all ages from newborn babies to seniors. Her oldest patient is currently 90 years old and absolutely loves coming for chiropractic care! Dr. Goldstein’s philosophy is that it is never too late to take control of your health and live a more vibrant life. She takes pride in providing individualized care to give her patients the best results possible.

Dr. Stacy Gold­stein attended the University of Western Ontario on full scholarship and grad­u­ated with an hon­ours degree in kine­si­ol­ogy and neuropsychology in 2006. She received her Doc­tor of Chi­ro­prac­tic degree in 2010 from the Cana­dian Memo­r­ial Chi­ro­practic Col­lege in Toronto. Dr. Goldstein then moved to Ottawa and joined the wonderful health care team at Hamp­ton Well­ness Centre in Westboro (www.hamptonwellnesscentre.com). When she is not adjusting, Dr. Goldstein is an avid distance runner, challah baker and mom to two adorable children.

Gloria Schwartz, B.A., M.A., is a certified personal trainer at the Soloway Jewish Community Centre. She is also a certified fitness kickboxing instructor and she teaches chair exercise classes for age 75+. She is the Focus on Fitness columnist for The Ottawa Jewish Bulletin and the author of Personal Best: Train Your Brain and Transform Your Body for Life.

Gloria modified her lifestyle in her forties after realizing that continuing her sedentary ways and eating without mindfulness was making her chronic kidney disease progressively worse. To her doctor’s amazement, she has been able to stabilize her disease and enjoy a healthier, happier life. She has proven that anyone can transform themselves from ordinary to extraordinary—and it all begins with how you think. She’s achieved fitness goals which she previously would not have dared to dream, including running fifteen half-marathons. Gloria became a fitness professional later in life with a mission to help others optimize their health and get lean, fit, strong and empowered. Through her training, writing and speaking engagements, Gloria inspires people from teens to 100 to become their personal best.

Diane specializes in all types of personal insurance, including life insurance, mortgage protection insurance, critical illness insurance, disability insurance, long term care insurance, personal health and dental insurance (for those leaving a group plan or those who do not have a group plan) and even travel insurance.

Diane is the author of Who Am I, Really?, a book about eighteen adoptees who share their stories. She is also a prolific writer, writing for the Ottawa Jewish Bulletin and is the Ottawa correspondent for the Canadian Jewish News.
